BALER, Aurora -- The Philippine Army has tapped reservists in Aurora in its fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
91st Infantry Battalion (91IB) in partnership with 307th Community Defense Center conducted an orientation briefing and send-off ceremony to 3 reservist officers and 26 reservists enlisted personnel headed by Major Eleanor Prado who is Commanding Officer of 307th Ready Reserve Battalion.
“We briefed them on the issuances of the provincial government of Aurora relative to Covid-19, Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines and our current efforts,” 91IB Acting Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew Rubio said.
“I am very grateful and appreciate your spirit of voluntarism and willingness to support the local government, Department of Health and other frontliners in this province fighting the unseen enemy,” Rubio told the reservists.
He added that the services of reservists are indeed a must nowadays especially with the increasing demand of personnel requirement.
For his part, 703rd Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Andrew Costelo, appreciated the efforts of 91IB for tapping the reservists.
“The participation and utilization of our reservists is significant now because they are part of our force multipliers,” Costelo said.
Section 63 of Republic Act 7077 states that for helping maintain local peace and order, meeting local insurgency threat, assisting in rescue and relief operations during disasters and calamities, health welfare activities and participating in local socio-economic development, the reservist volunteers can be utilized through Civil and Military Auxiliary Services.
