Lacson: How to keep our sanity while we are on ECQ

Providentia

IT HAS been exactly nine days since President Duterte placed the entire island of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine or ECQ as a measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading. It is always safe to stay at home and follow what the government is asking us to do.

However, as much as we enjoy our new found luxury of not leaving our abodes, we are also now somehow experiencing boredom and restlessness as we may lack things that will help us spend the day. A lot of us who are used to the daily routine of going to work are now maybe feeling a bit uneasy and uncomfortable as this is far from what we are going through every day.

To help us retain our sanity as we battle this crisis as a nation, here are some useful tips which can help us survive amid this pandemic.

1. Always rely on validated and credible information.

Of course, we have to be updated on what is happening around us. But, we have to be wary of fake news that only intends to cause more panic and disorder amongst us. Subscribe only to reliable news sources and social media accounts to ensure that the information is correct and trustworthy. Avoid sharing unnecessary and false data on your social media pages.

2. Read books.

This period of being stuck at home is indeed glorious for the so-called bookworms. If you haven’t found that free time to start off or even finish the novel or book you are currently reading, then this is the perfect time to do so. For those who aren’t really fond of books, indulging yourself in a timeless classic or a modern novel can help you tick off those hours of the day.

3. Help out in household chores.

I am pretty sure a lot of people have already done general cleaning in their rooms and households. If you are still looking for some helpful stuff to do while in the house, maybe lending your hand yo your mom or dad while they do the chores will certainly make you

4. Play with creative indoor games.

As social distancing is now the thing to observe, staying indoors can still be so much fun with your family. There a lot of things that you can think of such as playing board games, trying out some artful activities like painting, or taking part in simple and entertaining card games. The world is aplenty of ideas with just a simple click on the internet.

5. Start off your passion project or learn a new hobby or a new skill.

There are actually a number of online courses or workshops that are now being offered for free and these are definitely advantageous for us. With thousands of videos, tutorials, recipes, and DIY resources online, this is the best time to learn a new skill or start off with that passion project you’ve been dreaming about.

6. Pray and never lose faith in the Almighty.

As these trying times, the only thing that we can really be sure of is that God will never forsake us. There might be a reason for what is happening now, but He will not allow such things to happen of we cannot surpass them. As they say, with His love and provision, this too shall pass.
