HEADS of Cebu City’s 80 barangays will now be required to submit daily reports to the City on how they have implemented the nine-hour curfew in their areas.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella asked Association of Barangay Councils President Franklyn Ong to direct the village chiefs to submit to the mayor’s office their daily report, not later than 2 p.m.

Labella said this is a way to make sure his orders are being carried out.

The Cebu City government has imposed stricter implementation of the nine-hour curfew which is from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., following the city’s status of general community quarantine to ensure that residents stay off the streets and avoid catching the deadly Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Cebu City Health Officer Daisy Villa is also calling the barangay captains to help in educating their constituents on the cluster clinics they are setting up in some barangays to help detect persons with influenza-like illness (ILI).

Cluster clinics have been set up in Barangays Hipodromo, Mabolo and Tinago in the north and Basak San Nicolas and Sawang Calero in the south.

She also wanted to dispel rumors being circulated in some barangays that they were bringing Covid-19 positive persons to them.

“I am calling all the barangay captains to help in making the residents understand that we are not bringing Covid-19 positive patients. Instead, we are only doing consultations,” Villa said.

Setting up cluster clinics is a new strategy of the Department of Health to detect those persons with ILI so they can be monitored and they need not go to hospitals. (JJL)
