MEMBERSHIP-shopping club S&R confirmed Thursday, March 26, that coronavirus-positive Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III went to its Bonifacio Global City (BGC) branch to shop on March 16, 2020.

In a statement, S&R said it reviewed its closed circuit television camera (CCTV) footage after receiving reports that Pimentel was seen shopping at BGC.

"It was confirmed that the senator was at S&R BGC on March 16, 2020. CCTV footage showed him checking out at counter 13 at exactly 1:50 p.m.," said S&R.

As a result, employees of the establishment who were in contact with Pimentel were placed under quarantine, while S&R took disinfection steps.

"We would like to assure S&R members that we are taking measures to maintain the safety of our members. We disinfect our stores daily and ascertain that our staff are clear prior to work," it said.

"Shopping carts and handles, front-end belts, item shelves, and registers are kept clean every single day. Our employees are constantly reminded of the safety precautions regarding the virus," S&R added.

On Wednesday, Pimentel also drew flak on social media after the Makati Medical Center said that he breached the strict infection and containment protocols when he brought his pregnant wife to the delivery room complex even when he was supposed to be under quarantine.

Pimentel said Wednesday, March 26, that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
