MGA nag-unang sports officials sa Pilipinas nga nalambigit sa preparasyon sa Tokyo 2020 Olympics, nakadayeg sa lakang nga pag-postpone sa aktibidad karon nga tuig tungod sa Covid-19 pandemic.

Si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez, sa pahayag nga gipadala niya sa SunStar Davao, “I have always expressed that I favor its postponement, given the way this crisis seems to be taking.”

Dugang pa sa PSC chief, “The safety and health of everyone is a top priority.”

Ni Ramirez, nga ang iyang buhatan nagmugna sa Sports Psychology aron suma pa, “to actively check on our athletes and conduct guidance counselling, online or by phone for now, for our athletes who might need their support given the challenges which resulted from these developments.”

Samtang si Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (Abap) executive director Ed Picson, nagsulti, “Abap agrees this is for the best.”

Niya pa, si Abap president Ricky Vargas nagsulti kaniya nga kini “inevitable and a wise decision.”

Dugang ni Picson, “With only four months away and uncertainty still in the air worldwide, I also feel there was no other recourse. We can always make adjustments in our boxers’ training and preparation.”

Ang Abap bag-uhay lamang nakamugna og duha ka Tokyo Olympics-bound boxers - Eumir Felix Marcial ug Irish Magno nga nakabaton og pwesto human ang impresibong performance sa Asian ug Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying sa Amman, Jordan sayo ning bulana.
