THE 303rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army provided manpower and transportation assistance during the hauling and prepositioning of family food packs in key areas to address and lessen the possible impact on the affected sectors and families province wide due to the Covid-19 health threat in Negros Occidental Thursday, March 26.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander said that, “Your Army in Negros has its full support to the efforts of the Local Government Units to help prevent and contain the possible spread of Covid-19 in the province. We will provide troops or manpower as well as our mobility assets for this endeavor”.

“To our fellow Negrense, we must do our part to help our government to fight against Covid-19. Let’s obey and follow all the guidelines and safety tips set forth by our government to help to contain Covid-19”, Pasaporte added.

A total of 2,400 food packs were hauled and will be distributed to the different parts of the province.

The said activity was initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office-Western Visayas to provide relief augmentation to the affected families due to Covid-19 in line with the Presidential Proclamation No. 0929, series of 2020 (Declaration of State of Calamity throughout the Philippines) which was issued last March 17, 2020.

Pasaporte with some army officials had participated during the meeting of Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer with the mayors in the province and made the concensus to declare the province under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) that will be implemented starting Monday, March 30. (TDE)
