City Hall readies food assistance for 21,000 households

THE City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) is targeting a total of 21,548 households or more than 100,000 individuals in Cagayan de Oro City who will be receiving food assistance amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat.

Christopher Mike Fabello of CSWD said Wednesday, March 25, that among the 21,548 households are those of drivers of public utility jeepneys, taxis, public utility vans, public utility coasters, public utility buses, motorelas, trisikad and motorbikes, scavengers, fishermen, farmers, scavengers, and ambulant vendors.

"This is in very close coordination sa atong mga barangay. Naay cross checking atong buhaton," Fabello said.

He said each of the food packs contains 15 kilos of rice, five cans of sardines, five cans of beef loaf, five cans of corned beef and 15 instant noodles.

Fabello said the food packs are good for 15 days.

"The soonest na ready na, atong i-release [ang food packs]," Fabello said.

Meanwhile, employed individuals who were affected by the preventive measures against the Covid-19 such as mall employees will be assisted by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

"Nag issue ang Dole nga motabang sila adtong mga minimum wage workers, naigo sa EO kanang mga nag trabaho sa mga malls nga gipasira. Tanan mga employed pwede mag adto sa Dole," Fabello said.

Likewise, the 4Ps and Unconditional Cash Transfer Program (UCTP) beneficiaries will be given their cash assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), he added.

"Kini sila di na pud nato problemahon sa atong food assistance kay and 4Ps and UCT nga program ang DSWD nay bahala sa ila," he added.
