Mandaue City under enhanced community quarantine on March 30

MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes has released an executive order (EO) placing Mandaue City under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020 until further notice.

In his executive order no. 67, Cortes ordered a 24-hour strict home quarantine for all residents of Mandaue City during the whole duration of the ECQ.

All forms of public transport are suspended while the operation of private transportation will be regulated.

The non-essential entry/exit of people in the city will be restricted. Exempted are public and private health workers, a member of the family or household with a valid quarantine pass, persons with medical condition that necessitates them to go to a medical facility, law enforcement and security services personnel, authorized public officials and employees, employees of essential businesses, attendees of wakes or funeral services, and other businesses and persons exempted by the mayor.

All businesses in Mandaue City are also ordered closed.

Exempted from the order are those providing manufacturing basic necessities, those manufacturing hygiene products, restaurants (take-out services only), delivery services, public markets, farms, groceries, bakeshops, commissaries, cold storages, pharmacies, 24/7 convenience stores, sari-sari stores, hardware stores, health clinics and laboratories, water refilling stations, laundry shops, financial institutions, veterinary and animal feed vendors, BPOs, hotels except those accomodating guests who have existinng booking accomodation as of March 26, media outfits, gasoline stations, funeral parlors, other establishments necessary during ECQ.

Private vehicles are allowed to travel within the city as long as there are only two persons inside, except those used to transport persons connected with essential work. Movement of cargo within, to and from the city shall remain unhampered. Private vehicles are laso allowed by household holding a quarantine pass with the sole purpose of buying basic necessities.

Authorized government vehicles are also exempted from the order.

Persons who plan to go outside are required to bring with them proof of identity, employment or supporting documents.

The city will also release its official quarantine pass. It will be presented to law enforecement personnel everytime a household member will leave their residence in purpose of buying basic necessities.

The Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and other security forces of the Philippine Government assigned in the province will assist the implementation of the ECQ.

Residents are also urged to download the Covid-19 Tracker Application on their mobile phones for accurate method of tracing persons who were potentially exposed to the virus. (KFD/JGS)
