THE Zamboanga City Government has distributed the necessary but hard-to-find supplies to ensure the protection of frontliners in 25 of the city's 98 villages amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar these included alcohol, masks, vests, rain coats, long sleeves, megaphones, whistles, rice and other needs as the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine entered the seventh day Friday, March 27.
Salazar said the City Government has also delivered hospital beds and other equipment and much needed supplies to the Ateneo Zamboanga University (Adzu)-Lantaka campus, designated as the city's isolation and management facility for all patients under investigation (PUI) with mild to moderate symptoms.
The Adzu-Lantaka campus was formerly known as the Lantaka Hotel by the Sea, the oldest hotel in the city. It was donated to the Jesuit-run university by its owner, who stays abroad.
Salazar said Zamboanga City has recorded 38 PUIs and 1,099 persons under monitoring (PUM) for Covid-19 as of March 26.
She said 17 of the 38 PUIs have tested negative, while the remaining 21 have pending results for Covid-19.
She said 449 of the 1,099 PUMs have been cleared after completing the 14-day quarantine period.
The city has one confirmed case, who has travel history to Manila.
The patient, locally known as ZP-01, was named by the Department of Health as PH613.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, City Health Office chief, said PH613 "is in the hospital and is doing well."
Miravite said contact tracing is one the process to determine who are the people who came in close contact with PH613.
She said those who were traced are already considered as PUMs. (SunStar Zamboanga)
