Riding-in-tandem gunmen kill mechanic

A MECHANIC was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen early Friday, March 27, in Zamboanga City, the police reported.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the fatality as Willy Jumaani, 38, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Duco said investigation showed that Jumaani was fetching water to a mosque around 5:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, in the village of Cabatangan, Zamboanga City, when two men onboard a black motorcycle appeared and repeatedly shot the victim.

Duco said the gunmen who wore face masks and crash helmets sped off after the incident.

He said the victim, who owns a motor repair shop, has no known enemy in the community.

The incident happened amid tight security measures coupled with an eight-hour curfew following the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine to prevent the entry and spread of the coronavirus disease in the city. (SunStar Zamboanga)
