EMPLOYEES of the Provincial Government of Bataan were tasked to make improvised face shields and face masks as response to the lack of protective equipment.

Provincial Information Office head Angeline Lara said Governor Albert Raymond Garcia instructed 22 employees under the “work from home” arrangement to make the equipment.

“The task started last March 20 and as of Tuesday, a total of 372 pieces of face shields and 50 pieces of face masks have been turned over to the Provincial General Services Office [PGSO],” she said in a statement.

Lara added that they will distribute the equipment to frontliners who are working to combat the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province.

About 63 pieces of the equipment were already given to Metro Bataan Development Authority and Bagac Community and Medicare Hospital.

Face shields were made of acetate, rubber band and double-sided tapes provided by PGSO, while some were made out of materials found at home such as foam, tape, garter, plastic cover or plastic envelope, and reusable and washable fabric.

“This shows that through creativity coupled with a genuine desire to be of help, we all can do our share in this fight against Covid-19,” Lara added. (PIA-Central Luzon)
