How to keep busy during the ECQ

ANTICIPATING the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the whole of Cebu on Monday, March 30, 2020, some young Cebuanos are making themselves productive as they deal with the health crisis brought about the coronavirus virus (Covid-19) pandemic.

They told SunStar Cebu that they plan to do to keep themselves busy by engaging in physical and mental activities while staying at home.

Kent Anthony Jimenez, 20, Civil Engineering graduate, said he will make use of the ECQ by cleaning his room and improving its appearance. He also plans to stay fit through exercise and eating right.

“(I also plan to) read more books, watch more movies and keep myself updated on news about Covid-19,” Jimenez said.

Via Marie Lumandas, 21, International Studies graduate, said she will use her time by helping her parents with household chores.

She also plans to learn to play the ukulele and watch Korean dramas.

“The goal is to keep myself busy and entertained. I’ll make the most of my time and keep myself healthy and safe in these trying times,” she said.

Trina Louise Rivera, a first year Law student, said the ECQ is the perfect chance for her to catch up on her school readings as well as promote health literacy online.

Abby Mabunga, a mechanical engineer, said Zumba sessions on YouTube might help ease his boredom at home.

“(I also want to) read again the two Percy Jackson series of Rick Riordan, play mobile games, sleep during midday, and cook one good meal a day. This is the best time to learn how to cook adobo, humba, etc. If walang much meat at home, substitute lang with creative de lata dishes, like carbonara ala Century Tuna,” he said. (WBS)
