3 Covid positive patients, 4 PUIs die in Pampanga

THE Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (Pesu) in Pampanga, as of March 27, reported a total of three people dead from the dreaded coronavirus disease (Covid-19) along with four other patients under investigation (PUIs) with pending confirmatory tests.

Updates on the overall situation in the Province of Pampanga showed that out of six confirmed cases, three patients are alive while the other three have succumbed to the virus.

Among the three patients who are alive include the Grab driver from Porac town, the first positive case in Pampanga, who has recently recovered and is set to be discharged. The second patient is the confirmed corana virus case from Barangay Nabuclod in Floridablanca town. The patient is currently at admitted at a designated hospital.

Another is the first corona virus case in Barangay Santa Rita in Macabebe town who had been confined since March 9 and was discharged on March 22, according to a statement of Pampanga Premier Hospital where the patient was admitted.

The said 66-year-old patient’s positive test came out March 25 according to documents from the Department of Health. Official statement from Macabebe town said that the patient is “alive and well” and said that the patient was discharged March 21, contradicting the discharged date issued by the hospital.

The first fatality related to the corona virus disease was the patient who was admitted at the ur Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center (OLMMC) last March 9. The patient, a resident of the City of San Fernando, perished on Wednesday, March 11, two days before the test results that confirmed the patient’s infection late night of March 13.

The second fatality is Dr. Marcelo Jaochico, the provincial health chief of Pampanga, died on Tuesday, March 24. DOH records list a fatality from Bacolor town but it is not clear if the reported death is Dr. Jaochico.

The third fatality is a 69-year-old woman from Apalit town who died at the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center (AUFMC) on Thursday according to an advisory issued by the medical institutions.

The Province of Pampanga currently has 98 individuals considered as patients under investigation. Four of the said patients have already died. Some 18 patients are still admitted in designated hospitals while 33 have been discharged. Some 43 PUIs who exhibit mild symptoms have also been sent home under self-isolation.

Persons under monitoring (PUMs) are at 11,290 individuals. Some 2,124 PUMs have completed 14-days quarantine while Remaining PUMs undergoing daily monitoring is at 9,166 individuals.
