MCIA imposes entry restrictions amid Covid-19

THE Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will maintain a skeletal workforce to ensure unhampered operations for any departing sweeper flights for foreign nationals or repatriation flights arranged by foreign embassies amid the continued spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The airport has started implementing entry restrictions for all arriving international passengers in compliance with Executive Order (EO) 5-N issued by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, which placed the Province of Cebu under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 the EO 5-N states: “The entry of all persons arriving on international flights in the Province of Cebu shall be prohibited; outbound passengers are still allowed to leave the Province of Cebu; there shall be no restriction on the movement of any and all cargo on any and all airports and seaports within the Province of Cebu during the period of the enhanced community quarantine. Basic and essential goods and other necessities shall be given priority over other goods; and the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other security forces of the Philippine Government assigned in Cebu shall help in implementing the executive order.”

In a public advisory dated March 26, the MCIA said all domestic flights will remain suspended until April 14, 2020, or until further notice from the Cebu Provincial Government and/or the respective local airlines.

The MCIA, though, will remain operational and maintain a skeletal workforce.

This will be subject to the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Provincial Government’s ECQ protocols to ensure unhampered operations for any sweeper and repatriation flights. / JOB
