One killed, another wounded in separate shooting incidents

LAPU-LAPU City police arrested an armed man on Friday, March 27, 2020, after he allegedly shot dead his friend on Thursday afternoon, March 26.

The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Mark Lee Sequera, a boatman from Sitio Datag, Barangay Maribago.

He is accused of killing his neighbor Linder Igot Aying.

According to MSgt. Erwin Sinadjan, desk officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Police Station 2, Sequera used an unidentified caliber firearm to shoot Aying after they had a heated argument during a drinking session with five other friends.

The incident took place at 3:29 p.m.

The victim was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Sequera was arrested at his brother’s place in Barangay Pusok where he hid after the shooting.

A homicide case will be filed against the suspect.

“Mahulog personal grudge gyud ni ang motibo (It appears that personal grudge was the motive),” Sinadjan said.

Around 2 p.m. that same day, a 39-year-old man was wounded after he was shot by an unidentified suspect in Ampalaya Village in Barangay Gun-ob.

SMSgt. June Abella, desk office of Police Station 3, said Arnel Cadampog Abing, a resident of Barangay San Vicente in Liloan town, was standing by the road waiting for someone when he was shot four times by riding-in-tandem gunmen.

A .45 pistol that might have been used by the culprit was recovered in the scene.

Police are investigating the incident and conducting a background check on Abing to get information that may help them identify the gunmen and the motive for the shooting.

“Abing survived the attack. He was able to recover. We will continue with our investigation until we have a motive for the shooting,” Abella said in Cebuano. / GCM / MMC
