IN A bid to effectively support the needs of the frontliners at the village level in the midst of the fight against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Mayor Rene Maglanque is continuously providing full support to all the municipal, village officials and watchmen, and Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS) in Candaba town.
The mayor has done a two-day distribution of financial assistance amounting to more than P300,000 for the allowances of the front liners in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
“It is our duty as public servants to support the needs of our modern-day heroes - the Covid 19 frontliners as they put their lives on the line just to prevent the spread of this global pandemic disease and ensuring that we are safe from any danger,” Maglanque said.
He also ordered the village officials to exert extra efforts in strictly implementing precautionary measures such as consistent monitoring and lessening the movement of the townsfolk to contain the virus at the barangay level due to continuous threat of Covid-19 in the country.
He said this scheme will also ensure that all people who are considered as persons under monitoring (PUMs) will be closely watched.
Maglanque said he required all the 33 barangays to designate only one entry and exit point in their areas where they will be conducting checkpoints.
He said these checkpoints will be manned by their barangay tanods and representatives from BHERTs.
“The barangay tanods will be the one to inspect all the people and vehicles that will enter their areas. This way, we can have a better monitoring of all our constituents and be able to easily do contact tracing in case there will be suspected Covid 19 cases,” he said.
The mayor said the local government here has issued “official pass slip” to all its households as another way of minimizing the movements of people. This official pass slip will be used only for the purposes of buying food, medicine; accessing health care services and in going to the bank.
The family member who will be holding the pass is the one authorized to go out and do the errands and buying the needs of their family.
The mayor also purchased thousands of eggs from the duck raisers here to support the poultry and egg production industry in this town. These eggs are now distributed for free to almost all households here especially those who are less in life.
The local government here has also distributed bottles of alcohol and ascorbic acid for the use of all the households in the 33 villages in this town.
There is also a regular disinfection and clean up drive inside and outside the Candaba Public Market through the assistance of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and market personnel.
The local chief executive is also conducting regular discussion among village officials on the measures being undertaken against the spread of Covid-19. They also tackled the procedure on how they would do the distribution of the rice assistance from the provincial government and the launching of the Adopt-a-Family program aimed at helping those families who are now in need of monetary assistance.
He said all residents of the town are still encouraged to stay at home and follow the guidelines being implemented. Commercial establishments are also required to have their own safety measures like the implementation of social distancing, thermal scanning at their entrances, and providing disinfectants like alcohol and hand sanitizers to all their clients.
