Mayor: No Covid-19 case in Angeles City

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. reaffirmed that as of March 27, Angeles City remains Covid-19 free.

Lazatin issued this statement amidst the confusion brought by the advisory of Angeles University Foundation Medical Center (AUFMC) that a patient who is positive for Covid-19 died on March 26, 2020.

The patient is a 69-year-old lady from Apalit, Pampanga. She arrived in the country on the first week of March; symptoms of Covid-19 appeared on March 13; she was subsequently admitted at AUFMC on March 19, due to pneumonia, diabetes mellitus type 2, hypertension, and was considered a person under investigation (PUI).

She expired on March 26, 2020 the same day the Covid-19 test result was revealed positive.

All health workers exposed are now under quarantine. Proper disinfection has also been done by AUFMC.

“The quarantine is being done despite the fact that all protocols have been properly done,” Lazatin said.

“I continue to appeal to all our citizens not to panic since protocols and measures are in place,” he added said.

Lazatin said the best way to help the government is to stay inside their houses.

To date, there are 140 persons under monitoring (PUMs) in self-quarantine and being strictly monitored by the City Health Office.

There are also 15 PUIs - 10 are natives of Angeles City while the other five are from other municipalities and cities confined in hospitals operating in Angeles City.
