16 buses to be deployed in Mandaue to aid frontline health workers

SIXTEEN Ceres buses will be deployed in Mandaue City to ferry frontline health workers amid the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in the city.

The Mandaue City Government has tapped the bus line company to aid frontliners as public transportation has been temporarily sunspended.

According to lawyer Jamaal Calipayan, Mandaue City administrator, the bus services are free of charge.

Employees of essential establishments such as groceries, banks, pharmacies and government offices can also avail of the said ride. Residents who are far from supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies can also ride the buses.

Health workers and employees of exempted establishments need to present their company IDs while residents who wish to purchase goods from essential stores need to present their quarantine pass.

The city had identified four routes of these buses.

The first route will ply from North Road (Mandaue-Consolacion Boundary) via M.C. Briones St. (Highway Seno) to Innodata (Mandaue-Cebu City Boundary), vice versa.

The second route will ply from Foodland Banilad, via A.S. Fortuna St. then to A.S. Fortuna Exetension, A. del Rosario, S.B. Cabahug St., A.C. Cortes, D.M. Cortes, Ouano Avenue (Mandaue City Hospital), W.O. Seno St., Mantawi Drive passing to U.C. Med and Choung Hua Hospital Mandaue, Ouano Ave., Total Gas station, M. Logarta St. passing through Subangdaku flyover, Hernan Cortes, back to to A.S. Fortuna St. then to Foodland.

The third route will ply from Barangay Cabancalan (Mandaue-Cebu City Boundary), M.L. Quezon St., A.C Cortes Ave. passing through the first bridge then a U-turn crossing the first bridge, D.M. Cortes St., U.N. Ave., M.C. Briones St., back to ML. Quezon St. then Cabancalan.

The fourth route will ply from the second bridge (Lapu-Lapu side) , to U.N. Avenue, D.M. Cortes, Cansaga Bridge, back to U.N. Avenue, North Road, H. Abellana, Tintay, D.S. Suico, P. Sanchez, North Road, M.C. Briones, U.N. Avenue then back to the second bridge.

The trips will start 5 a.m. with a 30-minute interval and will end at 11 p.m. (KFD)
