348 Filipinos abroad test positive, 9 die from Covid-19

A TOTAL of 348 Filipinos in 30 countries around the world have contracted the novel coronavirus, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Monday, March 30.

Of the 348, 228 are undergoing treatment, while 111 have recovered.

Five new Covid-19 deaths involving Filipinos in European region have also been reported since Sunday, March 29, bringing the total death toll to nine.

In Asia Pacific, 174 Filipinos in eight countries have tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new virus.

Forty-eight cases were reported in eight countries in Middle East and Africa.

In Europe, considered the new epicenter of coronavirus outbreak, DFA reported 97 confirmed cases among 12 countries.

Twenty-nine positive cases in two countries have also been reported in the Americas.

As of Monday, March 30, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected 203 countries, areas and territories worldwide. (Neil Jean Navarro/SunStar Philippines)
