2 persons test positive for Covid-19 in Lanao

TWO persons who were admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) last Sunday, March 29.

This brought the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Northern Mindanao, including Lanao del Sur, to seven.

The two new cases are a 67-year-old female from Del Carmen, Iligan City and a 67-year-old male from Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

According to NMMC chief Dr. Jose Chan, the 67-year-old female was confined at the NMMC on March 19, with chief complaints of cough, fever and diarrhea.

She has a history of travel to Makati, Manila and Bulacan on February 28 to March 3.

At present, she is in a stable condition.

The 67-year-old male from Lanao del Norte, on the other hand, was confined at the NMMC on March 26 after he was referred by the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital, with chief complaints of fever and shortness of breath.

He was one of the people who attended the Derby in Davao City.

As of March 29, a total of 14 patients are still admitted at the NMMC, 10 of which are patients under investigation (PUIs) and the four are the Covid-19 patients.

Among them are the 71-year-old male resident of Cagayan de Oro City, the 66-year-old female from Lanao del Sur, and the two new cases from Iligan City and Lanao del Norte.

Chan said the 66-year-old female admitted has been tested negative for Covid-19 and is now recovering. The 71-year-old male, likewise, is recovering.
