PERSONAL protective equipment (PPE) donations continue to arrive in the highlands.
About 300 personal protective equipment was hand-made by cadets of Philippine Military Academy on Sunday, March 29, said Captain Cheryl Tindog, PMA spokesperson.
She said the initiative made by cadets is a show of gratitude and concern to the frontliners in Baguio City and Benguet.
Tindog added recipients include city healthcare workers and military police in the academy.
"Hopefully, we can have more materials so the cadets may continue doing this which they called labor of love," she added.
In Benguet Province, donations from businessmen Ericson Felipe and Arnold Tolding of more than 900 raincoats to serve as protective equipment for the frontliners at Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) were received by Governor Melchor Diclas.
Also turned over to the Provincial Government are four thermal scanners donated by Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Intubators and face shields for BeGH and district hospitals in the province were also donated by private individuals Alma Awingan, Sincerely Dangatan, Laila Sayao, and Leonardo Aquino.
Benguet caretaker and ACT-CIS partylist representative Eric Go Yap also donated PPEs for BeGH.
On Monday, BeGH chief Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, BeGH chief, received donations from Congressman Eric Go Yap, comprised of 30 pieces of thermal scanner, 1,500 hazmat suits and N95 mask, 140 boxes of surgical mask, 900 goggles, 60 gallons of alcohol, two drums of alcohol and 14 pieces of acrylic box.
Healthcare workers rely on personal protective equipment to protect themselves and their patients from being infected and infecting others.
According to World Health Organization, infection prevention and control measures include: hand hygiene, personal protective equipment.
