Robbery suspect nabbed

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Amid the strict guarding and patrolling of policemen, a lawless element attempted to rob a residential house in this capital city recently.

According to chief of police Lieutenant Colonel Paul Gamido, the suspect whose name was withheld, broke in a house in Barangay Dolores on Thursday, March 26.

He disclosed the suspect is a resident of Sampaloc in the said village, made his way inside the house of the victim by climbing the back portion of the house and entered the open door of the house's third floor.

The suspect was able to cart away gadgets worth P40,000 and a wallet containing cash amounting to P4,000, Gamido said.

Gamido said all stolen items were successfully recovered due to timely reporting of the victim and swift response of the police.

The suspect was charged with robbery break-in and acts of lasciviousness with physical injuries.

Gamido, meanwhile, assured Fernandinos the city police's full effort to implement the enhanced community quarantine does not mean they are compromising their duty to maintain peace and order.

"The City of San Fernando police, while adamant in implementing the enhanced community quarantine, are ready to respond to any call for police assistance in order to ensure public safety and security within the entire city," Gamido said.

The police chief also encouraged every Fernandino to be vigilant and protective of their belongings and properties, especially now that people are experiencing challenges in financial and related aspects.

He also urged the public to actively report to their office any untoward incident caused to them or to their loved ones.

Currently, the PNP San Fernando is part of the City Incident Management Team's Task Force Groundzero, Task Force Sita, Task Force Border Control, and Strike Team Patrol, four groups which responsibilities focus on maintaining peace and order around the city, amidt the enhanced community quarantine.
