Online art auction for Cebu’s frontliners

CEBU’S art community comes together for “Art to the Front,” an online art auction for the benefit of frontline health workers in Cebu City.

Organized by a pool of local artists spearheaded by Golda King, Jean Govinda Marquesto, Osamu Emperado, Arts Council of Cebu and Qube Gallery, “Art to the Front” aims to raise funds for UP Foundation to support UP Fablab.

UP Fablab is a maker space currently in production of laser-cut face shields that serve as PPEs (personal protective equipment) for frontline health workers, as well as scrub suits, intubation boxes and 3D-printed ventilator valves if the need arises.

With artworks donated by the artists themselves, and a few pieces from the collections of Qube Gallery as well as 856 Gallery, the online auction will turn over 100 percent of the proceeds to those who are fighting the good fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

On its second day, the auction has accumulated around P556,000 in bids. The first batch of bidding will end on April 3. One can visit the online auction and check out the mechanics for bidding at www.fb.com/arttothefront. (PR)
