Septuagenarian loses valuables to burglars

A SEPTUAGENARIAN lost her jewelries and gadgets to two unidentified burglars who ransacked her house on St. Joseph Street, Dona Juliana, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City Sunday afternoon, March 29.

Police identified the victim as Bella Alacapa, 76 years old.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim was lying on her couch around 4:10 p.m. when one of the burglars, who was wearing mask and standing at the door, pointed a gun at her.

When the victim was about to stand, the burglar grabbed her cellular phone and asked about her money and jewelries. But when she replied that she did not have money, one of the burglars was already inside the house searching for valuable items.

The burglars carted away two television sets, a laptop, sunglasses, cellular phone, jewelry box containing assorted jewelries, and bag containing umbrella and P1,000 cash.

Investigation showed the burglars gained entry by scaling at the fence and fled by forcibly destroying the padlock of steel gate.

Pico said Police Station 6 is still conducting further investigation to determine the identity of the burglars who are still at-large.
