ACTRESS Sylvia Sanchez and her husband, Art Atayde, have tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus that was first detected in China.

Sanchez confirmed this in an Instagram post, saying she and Atayde were brought to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center on March 24, as "I was having chills and he had cough and shortness of breath."

"We were made to take the Covid-19 swab test and since then, Art and I have self-isolated. A week later, we finally received the results and we both came out positive for Covid-19," she said.

She then asked those whom they had close contact with to monitor for symptoms of the disease, such as shortness of breath, cough, fever, diarrhea, and sore throat.

Sanchez said she and her husband are getting better each day.

"Although this is slower than our usual recovery, we know that with prayers and strict compliance with our doctor’s orders, we will get there. Until then, we will keep you updated on how this progresses," she said.

She also asked the public to stay home to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Sanchez is among the Filipino celebrities who have tested positive for Covid-19. Other patients include actor Christopher de Leon and actress Iza Calzado.

De Leon was already discharged from hospital, while Calzado is still admitted. (LMY)
