Lapu-Lapu mayor: DOH to test community for Covid-19 soon

THE Department of Health (DOH) will soon conduct Covid-19 test in the community, as the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center is almost done testing all the patients under investigation (PUI), Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan said Wednesday, April 1.

Chan said he is just waiting for results of the tests done on PUIs.

He announced that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Lapu-Lapu City remains at two, while there are 13 PUIs and 497 persons under monitoring (PUM).

He said once the tests on PUIs are done, next in line are the PUMs.

“Naistorya nato si (DOH-Central Visayas Director) Dr. (Jaime) Bernadas nga halos ang mga PUI atong napa test na. Magsugod na kuno sila og test sa community,” mayor said.

Among those tested were PUIs undergoing home quarantine.

The mayor also provided Wednesday food packs and milk for babies for those undergoing a 14-day home quarantine.

“Dunay one-year-old baby nagkinahanglan og gatas, so atong gi-supplayan kay nag undergo ang pamilya og quarantine, 14 days, mao na nga naghatod ta og food packs ug gatas para sa bata,” he said.

He said the City’s disaster risk reduction and management office already disinfected the house of the family under quarantine and surrounding areas.

“Kung unsay ilang panginahanglanon, we will provide,” he said.

He said he is also looking at including the family’s breadwinner under the government's cash-for-work program.

"Atong tabangan ang pamilya, diin siya ang breadwinner, nga naa siya ginikanan nga 65-year-old. Mangita ko og pamaagi nga matabangan sa atong gobyerno,” assured the mayor.

The Department of Labor and Employment is now implementing its cash-for-work program for workers who got displaced due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Lapu-Lapu City has been under the state of enhanced community quarantine since 12:01 a.m. of March 29, 2020. (PR)
