TO ADDRESS the limited access to essential food and other supplies as Bacolod has been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the City Government of Bacolod, through its Food Security Committee will launch its mobile stores, called “Sari-Sari Store on Wheels,” Thursday, April 2, in Barangay Taculing.

Food Security Committee chair Maphilindo Polvora said the main purpose of these mobile stores is to give access to local residents, especially the poor households, to buy their needed food and goods supplies, during this quarantine period.

There will be scheduled trips in designated barangays.

The “Sari-Sari Store on Wheels” project is in partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay, headed by Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, who is also the barangay captain of Taculing.

Polvora said the vehicle will sell essential goods and grocery items. The goods are intended for sale to local residents at a specific time and pre-designated areas to bring the basic necessities closer to the residents of a certain barangay.

Any barangay resident who has a home quarantine pass (HQP) is allowed to buy at the mobile store, provided that strict implementation of social distancing shall be observed and to be monitored and assisted by barangay officials of designated barangay where the rolling store is scheduled to visit.

Massive buying of products is prohibited, as the buyer is entitled to buy goods for one household only.

Meanwhile, the city government welcomes partnership with businessmen who would like to operate mobile stores.

They should be legitimate business owners, with proper permits and licenses. Initial requirements include letter of intent and picture of a truck to be used as a mobile store.

Applicants should submit duly accomplished forms to the Investment and Promotions Office. Contact Bacolod Business Development and Promotions Center (BBDPC) at 4608409. (PR)
