A PHYSICIAN consultant at the Cadiz City District Hospital who was earlier identified as person under investigation (PUI) was tested negative of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“We received the result of the swab test for Covid-19, conducted by the Department of Health that confirms my wife who is a physician is negative of Covid-19,” the husband of the doctor said.

“I am the husband of the doctor who was the subject of malicious and fabricated information currently circulating in social media, local and national newspapers as well as on radio and TV. The rumors are bare and blatant lies and have caused immense anxiety to my wife and my family,” the husband said.

He clarified that his wife did not have any recent trip in Hong Kong as rumored and was never tagged as PUI until about 3:40 p.m. of March 30, 2020.

“She was not sick and did not exhibit nor sought medical attention for any Covid-related symptoms. She was never in hiding. In behalf of my wife, I maintained constant communication with the hospital heads and some government agencies to immediately address anything necessary,” the husband added.

Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said earlier the doctor who was identified as PUI was not reporting to the hospital after she went on a voluntary house quarantine while waiting for the swab result.

The husband said he is thankful to Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon for his prompt and appropriate action to the disturbance that was caused by the false information that was sent to him.

Maranon has immediately ordered for the disinfection of Alfredo Maranon District Hospital after he received the information about the physician who was reported to have performed a caesarian operation at the hospital.

“My wife remains optimistic and is looking forward to again serve the public, with other frontliners, in the fight against this pandemic,” the husband added.
