2 Covid-19 patients reported in San Simon town

THE dreaded coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has infiltrated the municipality of San Simon after two of its residents tested positive for the virus.

Municipal Administrator Rex Manlapaz confirmed to SunStar Pampanga that a 65-year-old (P1) and 72-year-old (P2), both male, are the town’s first two Covid-19 positive cases.

Manlapaz said that the first patient has a travel history from Quiapo Church, while the second one came home from Caloocan City when the enhanced community quarantine was enforced.

Patient 1, Manlapaz said, was admitted on the second week of March, but test result for Covid-19 only came back on Tuesday, March 31. Patient has comorbidity of tuberculosis.

Patient 2, meanwhile, was admitted on March 25 and was immediately tested for Covid-19, which came out to be positive.

As of Tuesday evening, Manlapaz said both patients were admitted at Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and show signs of recovery.

He assured residents of this town that contact tracing has been implemented and the houses of the patients are on lockdown.

“We deployed barangay kagawads around their residence and policemen regularly patrols their area to ensure that their family will be on strict home quarantine. Disinfection of their houses and its vicinities was also made to ensure the containment of virus,” he said. (With Ian Ocampo Flora)
