THE City Government of San Fernando is just a few steps closer in completing its own health care facility which will cater to persons under investigation (PUIs) in the city.

In an inspection done by the City Health Office on March 30, 2020, it was seen that the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) had already installed beds and electric fans in the isolation rooms and was set to install a better and proper ventilation system.

The CEO is currently looking into several options in providing better airflow in the area including the provision of air conditioning units.

Apart from the beds, the facility is also provided with cleaning and disinfecting materials to be utilized by the patients and the attending personnel.

The CEO said the facility can house at least 20 patients.

Dr. Renely Tungol of the City Infectious Cluster Program Manager and Incident Commander of Emergency Operations Center’s Incident Management Team assured the public that the City has an adequate number of medical personnel who will be taking care of the patients.

Tungol added that tapping of the city government’s previous health scholars is also part of the plan.

During the first phase of the construction, Mayor Edwin Santiago said that the construction of a health care facility is the city’s response to the call over the possible rise of the number of cases in the City.

Through this, Santiago said, it will ease the challenge of the hospitals even of the barangays in the city in handling Covid-19-related cases.

“Ngayong nasa lugar na natin ang Covid-19, ang dapat nating gawin ay putulin o bawasan ang pagkalat nito. Pagkatapos ng maiging pagpaplano, ito na ang ating aksyon, ang pagpapagawa ng sarili nating health care facilities,” he said.

The facility is targeted to be operational any day this week.

As of this writing, San Fernando has recorded a total number of 37 PUIs. This data was acquired through interview during mappings held in every household in all the barangays of the city.

The confinement of PUIs in the said health care facility, alongside the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua and its central clinic facility in two locations in the city, will be considered as the second phase of the mapping. (PR)
