Mayor allots P10M for seniors’ Vitamin C

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., procured P10 million worth of Vitamin C supplements for poor senior citizens from the 33 villages here.

The distribution of the supplements will be scheduled beginning April 15, 2020 at every barangay through house-to-house visits, aiming to cover the 25,000 senior citizens in the city, who belong to indigent families.

With this, Lazatin tasked the City Health Office (CHO), Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), Gender and Development (GAD), and the City Information Office (CIO) to lead the distribution of the supplements.

Lazatin said this is to help boost the immune system of senior citizens in the City, since the World Health Organization (WHO) states that the elderly is more susceptible in contracting the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Moreover, the senior citizens in the city also regularly receive social pension, financial, and medical assistance from the city government since Mayor Lazatin assumed office in July 2019.
