Volunteers create website that lists requests of frontliners

A GROUP of community volunteers involved in the technology startup scene in Cebu has developed a website to help course Covid-19 donations to hospitals.

FrontlinersPH said it saw an increasing problem on the lack of equipment used by frontliners in battling the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

“Many famous hospitals get so many of the donations for personal protective equipment (PPEs) but there are many other hospitals or other frontliners that still lack supplies,” said Frances Teves, one of the head volunteers.

Because of this, the group created an online platform where hospitals and other medical facilities in the Philippines can list their requests; and for donors to see the medical facilities that have received assistance and those that still need support.

The website, https://frontliners.ph/ went operational in March, however, improvements are ongoing to make the digital platform more user-friendly.

Teves said they used a similar functionality of Wikipedia where anyone can submit information.

To use the website, the partner hospital can state the request they wanted, specifically the PPEs they need and its corresponding quantity together with the date they need it.

For individuals who wished to pledge, they can click the “Add a Donation” button where they are redirected to the links or instructions for drop-off of the items requested by the hospitals.

The group said it wants to cover all hospitals in the country even those that are located in rural and far-flung areas. Frontliners PH is also willing to work with government agencies to expand the website to make it a centralized application for all donations and requests.

As of this writing, the group has already reached out to 15 hospitals in Cebu. (JOB)
