Lapu-Lapu City launches 'Aksyon Agad' hotline

THE City of Lapu-Lapu is implementing ‘Aksyon Agad,’ which quickly responds to any complaints of its constituents through the city hall’s hotline.

Some of the reports are of establishments including an English as a Second Language (ESL) school and a vulcanizing shop that received a closure order from the local government office as these two are still operating despite being under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

According to city legal officer attorney James Allan Sayson, QQ English located in Brgy. Maribago, as well as the vulcanizing shop in Brgy. Basak were ordered to close right after the city mayor conducted an investigation in the areas on April 1, 2020 and confirmed that these establishments were violating the Executive Order 2020-0048 or commonly known as Persons Exempted from the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

It was found out that the online school does not have a business permit for the year 2020 when it was asked for some documents proving that it is legally operating. Sayson said during an interview with SuperBalita Cebu that the online school was not observing social distancing, as were its 500 employees who were staying in when the mayor investigated the place.

The city issued 37 special permits to some of the locators of the Mactan Economic Zone and business process outsourcing firms to strictly follow the ECQ protocols.

QQ English also failed to present a special permit. Its representative reasoned that the online school is under the BPO industry.

Meanwhile, a family in Brgy. Buaya also called the hotline to seek for assistance for their child’s milk supply. City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan responded to the call and personally delivered the cartons of formula milk to their house.

Julio is a pedicab driver who stopped plying ever since the ECQ started on March 29.

For those who need medical transport assistance, contact Lapu-Lapu City Hall's hotline number 0932 104 1164.
