FOLLOWING disinfection of vegetable trading areas in Benguet’s capital town, La Trinidad markets are also asked to disinfect their areas in a bid to prevent transmission of Covid-19.

The local government of La Trinidad in a memorandum enjoined assistance of public markets at the Benguet capital town to disinfect and sanitize facilities.

Leaders of the 2002 and 1993 public markets in Kilometer 5, La Trinidad were asked to direct various tenants to join the Municipal Health Services Office personnel in disinfecting their respective areas.

Mayor Romeo Salda said this seeks to ensure the safety of market goers reiterating positive cases of Covid-19 in the town adding failure to comply would constraint the local government to exercise its powers, including, but not limited to temporary closure or the markets.

Disinfection efforts continue in the town following the declaration of Luzon-wide enhance community quarantine.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office with stakeholders started disinfection activity at the stretch of national roads, trading post and municipal grounds.

This was followed by flushing and disinfection at the Benguet General Hospital, churches, parking lots, school, markets and establishments.

The town is set to implement new market window period starting April 6, asking the public to bring their pass slip, observe wearing of mask, physical distancing with one person per family allowed to go out.
