Mayor orders lockdown of Angeles City village with Covid-19 case

THE Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., has ordered for the lockdown of a subdivision in Barangay Pulung Cacutud where the first coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive patient in the city is reportedly residing.

The 64-year-old patient is now confined at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in the City of San Fernando.

Lazatin said concerned citizens asked him about the veracity of a report that a resident in said place tested positive of the virus.

“I told him I have no idea so I had it checked if the report is true or not. Upon learning that the report is confirmed, I sent a team to visit the family and advised them on the proper quarantine procedures,” the mayor said in Kapampangan.

Lazatin said he ordered for a contact tracing to identify the victim’s relatives and friends whom he had associated with.

The subdivision homeowners association cooperated with the contac tracing conducted by the local government, according to the local chief executive.

The patient allegedly attended a meeting of an organization in Quezon City where a Covid-19 positive person is also present.

“He went home without symptoms and went around the subdivision and met with other residents. So we got the whole details,” Lazatin said.

A post circulating in social media shows that the patient is allegedly distributing face masks to policemen assigned at a detachment near the village.

The mayor said he immediately ordered for disinfection of the entire barangay.

At press time, SunStar Pampanga received a report that the patient has succumb to the disease.

As of April 2, 2020, the city government recorded 90 persons under monitoring (PUMs) and 15 patients under investigation (PUIs).
