DSWD 7 in need of warehouses for food packs

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD 7) appealed to warehouse owners to voluntarily lend their warehouses that may be used as repacking areas and storage facilities for family food packs.

The Cebu and Mandaue business chambers have responded to this call with Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Felix Taguiam saying there is already a scarcity of warehouses in Cebu due to the cost of rent.

However, he assured he will ask some of the chamber’s members to consider the need of the DSWD.

Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Steven Yu said they will help.

He said: “In our case, we will be supporting our LGU (local government unit) on this. We will support calls for assistance towards this cause. We see an outpouring of the bayanihan spirit among the Cebuanos.”

The DSWD 7 targets to produce at least P1.3 million worth of food packs to be distributed in the region. Those who wish to lend their warehouse may contact these numbers: (032) 233 8785 and (032) 232 9507. (JOB, WBS)
