Poll commissioner tests negative for Covid-19

POLL Commissioner Rowena Guanzon is negative for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

This was the disclosure made by the official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) herself days after she announced that she is a person under investigation (PUI).

“I thank God that my Covid-19 test turned out negative. I was informed by Dr. Joann Cerrada of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Unit of the CLMMRH (Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital) yesterday,” said Guanzon in a statement.

Prior to her being a PUI, the poll official had been undergoing self-quarantine as a person under monitoring (PUM) after coming into close contact with a person, who tested positive for Covid-19.

She is also a senior citizen at age 62, and has pre-existing medical conditions of hypertension and asthma.

“During my isolation, I realized how fragile my life is, and that only our Almighty God has control of our lives. I thought, I could actually die of this virus if have it,” bared Guanzon.

Now that she has been cleared of the virus, the COMELEC official said she is just excited to be with her family.

“I am happy that now I can look forward to visiting my parents in Cadiz when the lockdown ends,” said Guanzon. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
