7 nabbed, P268,000 ‘shabu’ seized in drug busts

SEVEN people were arrested while some P262,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-illegal drugs operations in Zamboanga City on Friday, April 3, amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested as follows: Salma Hassan Abdulla, 51; Mikko Duran Barcelon, 30; Ibnusuhud Yunus Sahdun, 39; Yassier Sumile Jumaril, 29; Tutuh Folloso Asakil, 22; Teofisto Solis Babanto, 29; and, Roel Arig Bakil.

Galvez said Abdulla was arrested in a drug bust around 2 p.m. at Sitio Asinan in Kasanyangan Village.

Galvez said seized from Abdulla’s possession were some P125,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and P200 marked money.

Barcelon yielded P136,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money when arrested in a drug bust around 6 p.m. at Sitio Tambucho in Camino Nuevo village.

Galvez added Sahdun, Jumaril and Asakil were arrested around 5:20 a.m. in Bench Drive, Arena Blanco village. Seized from them were some P3,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Meanwhile, Babanto and Bakil were caught in possession of some P4,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money in an anti-illegal drugs operation around 4:30 p.m. in Sitio Pantano, Barangay San Roque.

The police officer said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
