THE Cebu Provincial Government is set to open the first batch of Bagsakan Centers on Monday, April 6, 2020, in a bid to cushion the effects of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The first batch of centers will open in the towns of Alcantara, Alcoy, Alegria, Aloguinsan, Badian, Boljoon, Catmon, Ginatilan, Madridejos, Malabuyoc, Pilar, Poro, Ronda, Santander, Samboan, Sogod, Sta. Fe, Tabogon, Tabuelan and Tudela.
The Bagsakan Centers will be located at the respective municipal covered courts to ensure strict social distancing.
Among the grocery items that will be featured in the bagsakan center are produce, canned goods and rice.
Families with informal earners will be priotized in the distribution of household passes so that they can shop at the bagsakan center.
“For transparency, we will put up a tarpaulin and post as well on Sugbo News all the supplies and its corresponding prices,” said Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia in her regular live news conference via Sugbo News.
The governor assured that all the products for sale will be affordable given the global health crisis at hand.
The public, though, is reminded not to hoard and abide by the limitations set by the Provincial Government so that no one will be at a disadvantage.
For example, each individual may only buy two kilos of rice in a week.
Each customer may only buy a maximum of 14 cans of sardines, three packs of instant milk, two pack of brown sugar at 250 grams each, one bar of soap, two bottles of 200 milliliters of coooking oil and three packs of powdered detergent.
The social welfare and development offices of the 44 towns and seven cities of the province has prepared booklets to guide constituents on their grocery shopping. (ANV / RTF)
