Cops nab seller for overpricing alcohol, mask in Leyte

POLICE arrested on Saturday, April 4, an alleged online seller of overpriced alcohol and mask in Villaba, Leyte.

The suspect Jenevi Gobalane, 29, married, jobless and resident of the said town was arrested at around 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Barangay Jordan 1.

Confiscated from her possession and control during the police operation were one box containing 50 pieces of surgical masks, five gallons of alcohol with an estimated total market value of P3, 300, and five pieces 500 bills composed of one genuine and four boodle as buy-bust money.

The suspect, along with the confiscated items, was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Leyte Provincial Field Unit (CIDG-PFU) for proper documentation, according to the police operatives led by Lieutenant Colonel Marvin Pedere.

Earlier, CIDG-Samar provincial operatives led by Major Norman Ala also nabbed two alleged sellers of overpriced alcohol in a buy-bust operation in Catbalogan City.

The suspects were identified as Odette Martinez, 30, and Richelle Estorninos, 37, both residents of the city.

They were arrested in two separate locations in the city on Friday, April 3.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 7581 as amended by RA 10623 (Price Act), RA 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009), and RA 7394 (Consumer Welfare’s Act of the Philippines). (SunStar Philippines)
