THE village chiefs of barangays with confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Cebu City have doubled their efforts to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
As of April 3, 2020, there are 22 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city.
Barangays Guadalupe and Talamban topped the barangays with the most number of confirmed cases with four and three, respectively.
Guadalupe Barangay Captain Michael Gacasan said Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel are securing the areas to make sure persons under monitoring are observing right quarantine protocol.
Gacasan said if there are reported cases of persons with influenza-like illness (ILI) in their barangay, they will be brought immediately to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) or to the cluster clinic in Barangay Sawang Calero.
In Barangay Talamban where there are two fatalities, stricter implementation of curfew and stay at home order are observed.
Talamban Barangay Captain Dario Arcilla said disinfection is also done daily on streets and establishments that are exempted from the temporary closure order of the city.
He said residential compounds where the Covid-19 cases live are being monitored 24 hours a day by the PNP and barangay tanods.
Barangay personnel also helped in tracing people who have previous contact with the confirmed Covid-19 patients and persons who have previous contact with Covid-19 patients living in the said monitored compounds.
Other barangays in the city with confirmed Covid-19 cases are Barangays Babag (1 case), Banilad (2), Calamba (1), Kamputhaw (1), Capitol Site (1), Cogon Ramos (1), Kinasang-an (2), Mambaling (1), Opra (1), Sta. Cruz (2), and Sambag II (2). (JJL)
