PROMOTING financial education, digital literacy and responsibility in public schools nationwide, Globe Telecom BPI Foundation Inc. (BPIFI) and YGOAL Inc. carried out a partnership through Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP). YGOAL Inc., being a social consultancy services enterprise, implemented DTP under BPI SHAPE and BPI Manny and Me, which have already benefited over 600 schools, 1,100 teachers and 100,000 students.

Raising awareness on sexual exploitation of Filipino children online, Globe Telecom joined civic groups Child Rights Network and Plan International in celebration of Safer Internet Day. At the media launch, director for Globe citizenship and advocacy marketing, Miguel Bermudo discussed the topic of “Building Resilient Online Community Against Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children.” Globe had also partnered with the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. by offering toll-free calls to Bantay Bata #163 helpline for all Globe and TM mobile phone users. The company also continues to extend mental support together with the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation, providing toll-free calls to HOPELINE 2919.

Seven-year-old Johnder was given new hope by Globe Telecom and international children’s charity Smile Train though a newly operated lip. Smile Train, whose vision is to ensure that every child born with a cleft is given a chance for a life-changing transformation, provides resources to empower local doctors in over 90 countries to offer 100 percent-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
