Zamboanga City records 5th Covid-19 case

THE City of Zamboanga has recorded Sunday, April 5, its fifth confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar dislosed the fifth confirmed case is a 47-year-old male with travel history from nearby Malaysia.

Salazar said the patient is from the village of Talon-Talon and temporarily resided at San Jose Gusu.

He arrived in the city on March 5 and manifested symptoms on March 10, according to Salazar.

She said a swab sample was taken from the patient on March 16 for confirmatory test and “the LGU (local government unit) was notified of his positive result last night (Saturday night).”

She added the patient is currently confined at the government-run Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) and is stable and asymptomatic.

“Once again, we remind the public to please remain calm and to remain home. At this time, the best course of action to take is to stay home, maintain social distancing, and practice regular hand washing,” the mayor said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
