Armed man who held boy hostage killed

AN ARMED man was shot dead after he held hostage a 10-year old boy in Sitio Riverside A, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Jagdon Tudtud, a resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.

Capt. Marvin Fegarido, chief of the Subangdaku Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that Tudtud went to the area to visit his friends.

However, volunteers guarding the entrance would not let him enter due to the barangay’s “no outsiders allowed” policy.

Instead of going away, Tudtud showed his firearm.

Tanods reported the matter to the Subangdaku Police Station, which immediately sent men to the area.

When Tudtud saw the police, he jumped into the river. Police ran after him.

Tudtud suddenly grabbed a 10-year old boy and used him as a human shield while he tried to get away.

Fegarido said they tried to convince him to surrender, but he fired a shot instead. This prompted the police to fire back, hitting him in the neck.

Tudtud was rushed to the Mandaue City District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered a loaded .38 revolver at the scene.

Tudtud’s body will undergo autopsy. (KFD)
