What Covid-19 has taught me

DURING the onslaught of the coronavirus disease 2019, I learned these hard lessos: 1.) keep your emotions to yourself. Never let the other members of the family know about them. Most often, they would get disheartened and frustrated; 2.) to be more frugal, especially now that the resources are limited and fresh infusions of funds come too few and far between; 3.) adopt the patience of the biblical Job, in the face of all these trials; 4.) follow the wisdom in judgement of Solomon, Abraham and Moses. They had their chance in history as learned men who exercised good leadership, authority and wise choices; and 5.) emulate the flair and grace of Eisenhower, Patton and Churchill. They all planned and executed them well.

Most importantly, I learned to appreciate what little resources I have on hand and use them wisely and frugally, for I am not sure when and where the next funds would come from.

On a broader scale, I've iobserved the unquantifiable sacrifices and self-abnegation the frontliners and first responders have to exert in the service of their fellow men, albeit being only moderately for their efforts. Through this pieve, I advocate giving them extra compensation for their heroic efforts. Not too many of us are willing to do their roles, much less spend vicious efforts tending to the sick.

I am one with those who pray that this illness or disease will soon vanish or fade away so that we could once more lead normal lives, free from unjust anxiety and fear. I believe in the forceful impact of the Oratio Imperata which continuously beseech heaven for the miraculous cure for the malady.

I hope that nations unite to achieve the solution for the present confusion triggered by COVID 19 or whatever name it adopts. I hope they would pool their resources, talents and expertise to obtain post haste the cure for the coronavirus and the means to obliterate it.

I envision normalcy to preside on the horizon and never again confront us with the same bewildering scenario where our fortitude and very human behavior we exhibit was, is and will be challenged.

Lastly, I dream of a strong nation under an equally strong, resilient and decisive leadership.

Now back to square one, I hope we can recover tremendously and gain so much ground we've lost reluctantly to the dreaded disease. We pray for a crown of success and accomplishments and not a crown of viruses such as Covid-19.
