PHILIPPINE Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) provided aid to hospitals and local government units in Zambales in support of their efforts against the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
PCSO Zambales officer-in-charge branch manager Pierre Ferrer said checks amounting to P2.5 million each were turned over Saturday, April 4, 2020 to James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH) in Olongapo City and President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH) in Iba town.
“The financial assistance is for Covid-19 purposes such as for purchase of personal protective equipment, reagents, testing kits, laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and medicines,” Ferrer said.
JLGMH chief of Hospital Jesse Jewel Manuel and Zambales Provincial Health officer Noel Bueno, representing PRMMH, personally received the checks.
“PCSO have allotted P447 million to support 81 public hospitals in the country pursuant to the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act,” Ferrer stressed.
Moreover, the branch manager revealed that they will also donate on Monday, April 6, 2020 three patient transport vehicles in the province, which beneficiaries can use to transport potential Covid-19 patients.
“The Municipal Government of Cabangan, Candelaria District Hospital and Ospital ng Sta. Cruz will each receive a patient transport vehicle equipped with stretchers and first aid kits,” he added.
Last February 27, similar vehicle was received by the Provincial Government of Zambales and City Government of Olongapo.(PR)
