San Fernando puts up facilities to manage PUMs, PUIs

AFTER conducting a thorough mapping of probable persons under monitoring (PUMs) and persons under investigation (PUIs) in the 35 barangays, the city is now taking its next step of containing the Covid-19 contagion.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) has identified and is currently establishing Temporary Isolation, Treatment & Monitoring Facility for Covid-19 patients.

One of these is the facility in the newly-built civic center which has 22 well-ventilated rooms.

PUMs and PUIs with mild symptoms and whose home environment cannot support isolation can be temporarily housed for quarantine or isolation in the said facility.

Furthermore, PUMs and PUIs will be isolated there for 14 days and will be provided with food and the needed medical attention.

A patient can be discharged from the isolation facility once asymptomatic. He or she then should practice home quarantine for another 14 days before being issued a certificate of completion of isolation by the City Health Office (CHO).

Cases with signs of severe pneumonia and co-morbidities will be referred and transferred to the Jose B. Lingad Hospital in the city and Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua town.

Meanwhile, the Central Screening Facility in Barangay Sto. Nino and Malpitic Phase 2 are continuously doing their assessment on the fever cases in the Rural Health Units (RHUs) to identify additional possible PUMs and PUIs.

The said initiative, along with the other measures of the city, is being taken to prevent re-infection and spread of Covid-19 in San Fernando.

Through the able leadership of Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and support of the constituency, the city is utilizing all of its resources to address the needed medical attention; food provision for the identified PUMs and PUIs, elderly, and indigent families; and, financial assistance to the indigents and senior citizens.

The City also conducts regular sanitation and disinfection of public roads, buildings and barangays; holds regular surveillance and monitoring; mounts tightened border control to ensure the peace and order; and perks-up security of every Fernandino. (PR)
