Misamis Oriental exec: No need for supplemental budget

AN OFFICIAL of the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental said Friday, April 3, that the Capitol is ready to release funds once the villages and municipalities have exhausted their calamity funds during the community quarantine period.

Lawyer Jeffrey Saclot, spokesperson of the MisOr Covid-19 Response, said there is no need for supplemental budget as the province has sufficient funds for food assistance for the municipal governments.

"Dili pa kinahanglan mangayo og supplemental budget kay duna pa kitay igong pondo (There is no need to ask for supplemental budget yet as we still have sufficient funds)," Saclot said.

Saclot said the Provincial Government will only come in once the calamity funds of the villages and municipalities have already been exhausted.

But Governor Yevgeny Emano ordered the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) office to come up with a social amelioration program for the most affected families in the province.

"Ang set-up is first it should be the barangay, kung ma-exhaust na, then the town or city comes in and kung worst case, the province comes in. Dili pwede idungan nimo kay what if mo-extend ang period, dapat prepared ka kung dili na kaya sa lungsod," Saclot said.

Saclot said so far, no town have reported that their funds have already been exhausted.

He added the Provincial Government, meanwhile, is providing food assistance for the different quarantine control points in the province.

Saclot said 15 checkpoints have been clustered by the police to save manpower and resources.

These merged checkpoints are situated in the boundaries of Lugait and Manticao, Initao and Naawan, Gitagum and Libertad, Alubijid and Laguindingan, and Opol and El Salvador City.

In the first district, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office was merged with Tagoloan town police, Villanueva and Jasaan, Balingasag and Lagonglong, Salay and Binuangan, Sugbongcogon and Kinoguitan, Balingoan and Talisayan, Medina and Gingoog City, Magsaysay and Carmen, Agusan del Norte.

On the other hand, the regular security checkpoints in El Salvador City and in Claveria town remain as is.

"Giatiman karon sa probinsya ang assistance sa mga checkpoints for food sa mga frontliners especially sa borders nato sa Opol, Tagoloan, Magsaysay and Lugait," Saclot said.

Saclot urged the riding public and private vehicles to cooperate with the authorities.
