Sugar workers appeal to SRA for release of Pantawid assistance

SUGARCANE industry workers are appealing to the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) for the immediate release of the SRA Pantawid Assistance Program for Sugar Industry Workers.

The workers thru the National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry (Nacusip) last March 29, 2020 wrote to SRA Administrator Hermenegildo Serafica, Board Members Atty. Dino Yulo (Planters Rep) and Atty. Roland Beltran (Millers Rep) requesting financial assistance of P10,000 to assist the workers in mitigating the loss of income and other economic effects of Covid-19 pandemic.

On March 30, the SRA Board passed a resolution signed by Board Members Yulo and Beltran providing among others a Pantawid assistance program for sugar workers.

As of yesterday April 6, the workers has not received any reply from the administrator on the status of the Pantawid assistance program for sugar workers, according to Roland Dela Cruz, National President of Nacusip.

“Thus the workers reeling from the adverse economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, took to social media to appeal to the generous heart of the officials of SRA to release Pantawid assistance program for sugar workers,” Dela Cruz said.
