A 58-YEAR-OLD man died after he slipped while walking and hit his head on the rocks in Sitio Mananawin, Barangay Masulog 2, La Castellana on April 5.
The victim was identified as Enrique Avila, a resident of the same place.
Investigation showed that while trailing a downhill going to his house, the victim slipped on the rock, tumbled down and hit his head on another rock which caused his instantaneous death. The victim was said to suffer mental illness.
The body of the victim has no indication of foul play, the police reported.
Meanwhile a civilian was arrested for illegal possession of firearm at Broce Street, Barangay 4, San Carlos City on April 5.
The suspect was identified as Mark Kevin Gonzaga, 24, and resident of Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava.
Based on police report, a security guard of Skyland Hotel called up San Carlos City Police Station requesting for police assistance because there was a suspicious person carrying firearm of unknown caliber outside the Skyland Hotel premises.
The suspect was arrested by the responding police personnel carrying a caliber .38 revolver without serial number loaded with six live ammunitions. Also recovered from the suspect were two live ammunitions inside his sling bag.
The suspect failed to present pertinent documents for having possession of the said firearm.
The arrested person was held at the custodial facility of San Carlos City Police Station and charges for violation of RA 10591 are being readied against him while the confiscated/recovered items were in the custody of seizing/arresting officer for proper disposition of the case.
